First up was a murder mystery, in which media movers and shakers were invited to attend the gala dinner launch of Max and Molly Burdock’s new TV channel MBC.

That was followed by Silken Yarns. Four merchants, four stories, one prize... WADS wrote a series of four short plays for all the family based on old folk tales that they performed outdoors at Whitchurch Silk Mill, in the pouring rain, in July.

With a nod to The Canterbury Tales, Silken Yarns is based on a group of travellers vying to tell the best yarn. Four Merchants have come to Whitchurch to obtain a piece of costly silk, but there is only one length available. Whoever tells the best tale will be able to take the prize.

The stories are about a girl who weaves herself a cap of rushes after her father turns her out of doors, three brothers who are given magic objects by a stranger they meet on a journey, the cleverest girl in the world who outwits a ghoul, and a weaver who wins a competition with a goddess but pays the price.
